Would you like to speak Dutch with confidence at work and in your social life? In this B1.1 course, you will develop your language skills step by step — from A2 level to mid-B1 level. You will learn how to describe events and experiences in the past, talk about personal experiences, ask for and give opinions, make and decline suggestions, respond to ideas, plans or proposals, and discuss topics such as identity, food and health, travel, and work and professions.
In class, you will practice grammar in a focused way to make your language use more precise. You will work with conjunctions, “om te + infinitive,” expressing wishes and polite questions with zou/zouden, indirect speech, separable verbs, verb tenses, and relative clauses with die or dat.
Study materials:
We will use the textbook Nederlands in Actie, chapters 1–5 (including e-learning), the B1.1 study guide from Lest Best, Quizlet, the Lest Best YouTube channel, and additional exercises on compound verbs and fixed prepositions.
Assessment and certificate:
You will complete tasks and tests in speaking, listening, writing, grammar and vocabulary. After each course, you will receive a certificate showing your results. If your performance is sufficient, you may continue to the B1.2 course.
This course is intended for people who want to communicate effectively in Dutch at work and in social life. It is not designed for the integration or state exams. You will learn practical Dutch to help you manage everyday situations in the workplace and in social settings.
