Do you want to speak Dutch confidently at work and in social situations? This B1.1 course helps you develop your language skills step by step from A2 level to mid-B1 level. You will learn to express empathy and offer reassurance, give strong reactions, ask for and give opinions, agree or disagree with others, make social contact, express reluctance or inability, make complaints, negotiate, describe people and things, and talk about topics such as travel, education, money, and art and culture.
In class, you will work with grammar that helps make your language more precise, such as: verbs with te and om … te, separable verbs, the use of er, relative clauses, and the passive form.
Course materials:
We use the textbook Nederlands in Actie, chapters 1–11 (including e-learning), the Lest Best study guides B1.1 and B1.2, Quizlet, Lest Best’s YouTube grammar videos, and additional exercises on compound verbs and fixed prepositions.
Assessment and certificate:
You will complete tasks and tests in speaking, listening, writing, grammar and vocabulary. After each course, you will receive a certificate showing your results. If your performance is sufficient, you may continue to the B1.2 course.
